Who Will Write YOUR Story?
Have you ever thought "Who am I to write that book?"...
I have...
When I was first asked to write my story by my therapist, I fought myself about not having the credentials for writing my story.
It was a huge case of Imposter Syndrome...
I wondered who would possibly want to hear my story?
Then I went to a conference where psychologists, social workers, attorneys, and all kinds of medical professionals were telling me and other survivors that we needed to write our stories so they would have some sort of an idea of how to help us...
So I had to see that someone was going to benefit by me writing my story. It became the reason... the WHY... of making that leap over my imposter syndrome to write my story.
I finally asked myself...
If not me, Who?
If not now, When?
And I did.
Watching other survivors benefit from my work was so fulfilling. And I learned that by telling my story, I healed... I grew... my fear lessened and my confidence grew, not only as a speaker, but also as a writer.
I went on to write and publish 4 books. And it's my intention to begin writing my 5th book at my inaugural Write and Rise meeting in April.
So I want to encourage you to look at your imposter syndrome, your lack of confidence in writing your story.
You matter to someone.
Your story might change the life of ONE person, and that's all that matters...
